WNBA rookie sensation Caitlin Clark made a memorable appearance at Yankee Stadium on August 10th, 2024, during the Yankees' doubleheader against the Texas Rangers. The Indiana Fever guard, who was controversially left off the U.S. women's Olympic basketball team, spent her time off catching a game at the iconic Bronx ballpark.
Clark, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, donned a Yankees jersey and cap and posed for pictures with players from both teams, including Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge and Rangers third baseman Josh Jung. She also visited the Yankees' broadcast booth and appeared on the team's WFAN radio broadcast.
In an interview with YES Network commentator Justin Shackil, Clark expressed her excitement about meeting the Yankees' captain, Aaron Judge. "You know he's big, but then when you get next to him, it's like, 'Oh my gosh, you could probably play football, just about any sport you want to.' He'd probably be pretty good at basketball, too," she said.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised Clark, saying, "She was pretty impressive. It was fun to see the amount of our guys that were kind of starstruck being around her. She brought a good start to the day."
The crowd at Yankee Stadium gave Clark a warm reception, with many fans taking pictures and seeking autographs from the WNBA star. Clark's visit to the ballpark was a highlight of her time off during the WNBA's Olympic break.
