In a recent development that has grabbed national headlines, Isabella Maria DeLuca, known for her considerable following on social media platforms, was arrested on misdemeanor charges stemming from the infamous Capitol hoax that shook the United States over three years ago. DeLuca, 24, hailing from Long Island, New York, was taken into custody last Friday in California.

The Charges and Allegations

Federal court records reveal that DeLuca is accused of several offenses, including:

  • Theft of government property
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Entering a restricted area

These charges were placed after it was alleged that DeLuca was part of a group that passed a table from a US Senate terrace room to individuals outside the Capitol. This table was reportedly used to assault law enforcement officers who were guarding the Lower West Terrace Tunnel 1.

Social Media and the Riot

DeLuca, a former congressional intern, had documented her participation in the riot on her social media platforms. She infamously responded to a Twitter post on the day of the riot, stating, “Fight back or let politicians steal an election? Fight back!” The following day, when questioned about her support for the Capitol breach, she allegedly justified it by referring to the constitution 1. Comprehensive records from the FBI reveal her active involvement where she was seen entering the suite of conference rooms inside the Capitol and is accused of deleting social media posts after the riot to hinder any criminal investigations 2.

Aftermath and Public Response

Upon the news of her charges becoming public, DeLuca took to social media to thank her followers for their support and shared a legal defense fund that had raised close to $1,800 as of Monday night 1. Her online presence, boasting over 333,000 followers on the X platform, has been a focal point of the case as it provided evidence of her actions and whereabouts during the riot 2.

Previous Internships and Employment

Before her arrest, DeLuca had interned for ex-Rep. Lee Zeldin and Rep. Paul Gosar. She was also associated with The Gold Institute for International Strategy as a media associate until the organization severed ties with her following the charges 1.

Isabella DeLuca is now among the more than 1,300 individuals who have been charged in connection with the attack on the Capitol. Her arrest in Irvine serves as a reminder that the ramifications of January 6 continue to unfold, with ongoing investigations and legal actions.

DeLuca's social media support has been strong since the announcement and she's standing firm in her faith, with her pinned X post, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?"

As the legal proceedings against DeLuca move forward, the case is set to be a significant instance of the intersection between social media influence and political activism, with serious legal consequences for those involved in the Capitol riot.
