AT&T has announced that the call and text records of nearly all of its over 110 million customers have been exposed in a massive data breach. The breach, which occurred in 2022, has left millions of customers vulnerable to potential privacy violations and identity theft.

According to the company, the stolen data includes records of calls and texts between approximately May 1 through October 31, 2022, and on January 2, 2023. The data contains information about which phone numbers a customer called or texted, the number of times they interacted, and the call duration. However, the company has assured customers that the data does not include the content of calls and texts or personal information such as Social Security numbers.

AT&T has launched an investigation into the breach and is working with law enforcement to track down the hackers responsible. The company has also notified current and former impacted customers and is offering support to help them protect their personal information.

This is not the first time AT&T has faced a data breach. In March, the company announced that the personal information, including Social Security numbers, from about 73 million customers was leaked on the dark web. The data set appears to be from 2019 or earlier, and the company said there was no evidence of unauthorized access to its systems.

The recent breach at AT&T highlights the growing threat of data breaches and the need for companies to take stronger measures to protect their customers' personal information. With millions of people affected, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of cybersecurity and the need for individuals to take steps to protect their own personal information.
