In a significant display of unity, a Zoom call titled "Blacks Against Kamala Harris" organized by social media influencer Dom Lucre attracted more than 72,000 participants, totaling over 2.1 million views in just 16 hours. The event, which was hastily arranged in response to what many participants described as liberal propaganda, featured a lineup of prominent Black speakers, including actor Isaiah Washington, political commentator Rob Smith, Lavern Spicer and various community leaders.
The call served as a platform for Black Americans to voice their dissatisfaction with Vice President Kamala Harris and the broader Democratic party. Topics discussed ranged from Donald Trump's policies and the role of religion in politics to concerns about illegal immigration, inflation, education, and the perceived issue of child grooming.
"All we really have is the fact that people know this is propaganda, they are getting tired of it, and they are looking and seeking out new voices," said Rob Smith during the call, reflecting a growing sentiment among Black Americans who feel their concerns are not adequately addressed by the current administration.
Sandra Prosper, another speaker, criticized the alignment of liberal views with the Black community, stating, "You and your liberal views do not align with ours." Derrick Gibson, a community leader, also voiced his concerns, stating, "She advocates for murder in the womb," referring to Harris' stance on abortion rights.
The event was organized in response to a series of pro-Harris Zoom calls titled "White Dudes for Harris," "Black Men for Harris," and "White Women for Harris," which many participants felt were examples of liberal propaganda. The "Blacks Against Kamala Harris" call aimed to provide an alternative perspective and rally Black Americans against what they perceive as harmful policies and ideologies.
The large turnout and the passionate discussions during the call underscore a growing rift within the Black community regarding their political affiliations and the policies they support. As the 2024 election season approaches, events like these could have significant implications for voter turnout and political alignment among Black Americans.
