In a startling revelation that has sent shockwaves through international political and media circles, a native Russian man was arrested in Moscow for an attempted assassination on Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host and prominent American journalist. The arrest, which occurred earlier this month, was reportedly in connection with a plot to plant an explosive device on Carlson's vehicle during his visit to Moscow for an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Simon Ateba, the chief White House correspondent for Today News Africa, broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), detailing the allegations against the suspect. According to Ateba's post, the man was purportedly paid by Ukrainian intelligence to execute the assassination attempt on Carlson by placing an explosive device under a vehicle intended to transport him.

The Gateway Pundit, citing a video released by the Russian media website mvlehti.net, identified the suspect as Vasiliev Pyotr Alexeieovich, a 35-year-old Russian national. In the video, Alexeievich is seen reading a script that outlines the assassination plot, claiming he was recruited by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense in November 2023. He was allegedly trained in special communications and in the collection and detonation of explosive devices.

Alexeievich stated that his mission, assigned on January 31, was to obtain an explosive device and place it under a vehicle parked at the Four Seasons Hotel in Moscow. This vehicle was scheduled to transport Carlson for his interview with Putin. For the completion of this mission, Alexeievich claimed he was promised $4,000.

However, the plan was thwarted when Alexeievich was detained during the planning stages. During his interrogation, he expressed remorse for his actions and confirmed that the intended target was indeed Tucker Carlson. The authenticity of the Russian news website's report and the video of Alexeievich’s interrogation have not been independently verified.

Social media account "KanekoaTheGreat" shared the video of the interrogation and posted photos allegedly showing the Four Seasons Hotel's parking garage and the explosive device, which was reportedly obtained by Russian counter-terrorist forces.

This incident has raised numerous questions regarding the motives behind the assassination attempt and its broader implications for Russo-American relations, press freedom, and the safety of journalists working in politically volatile regions. It also highlights the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, adding a layer of complexity to an already fraught geopolitical landscape.

The foiled assassination attempt on Tucker Carlson in Moscow is a chilling reminder of the risks faced by journalists and public figures in today's increasingly polarized world. As investigations continue, the international community awaits further details on this audacious plot and its ramifications for global politics and media safety.
